Entry 15: Inside the Tree – “Hallways” – August 19th, 2023 – 7:42 PM
As we had no idea how to get out, we decided the best option was to find its heart. The only problem is that anglers can shape themselves however they wish, so their hearts could be anything.

If you were a supernatural creature obsessed with the city of Harrington, what part of it would be your favourite? If we could answer that, we would have a good chance of finding its heart.

Harrington’s not known for much…
It’s one of those places where folks gather around to see a traffic light get put up. It has an abundance of trees, mountains, and ocean. But all those elements feel too broad.

Wait! If it relates to Harrington’s history, then there’s really only one thing it can be… Gold!

Right! I was just about to say that…
Entry 16: Inside the Tree – “Hallways” – August 19th, 2023 – 7:45 PM
We made it outside of the historic jail and found ourselves in yet another passageway. Maisel and Murlocke were up ahead. It was already 7:45 PM… All I could think was that I would be grounded for the rest of the year…

Hurry up, Sasheen!

I’m coming! I’m trying to figure out where we are.
The issue, or one of the issues, was that the tree brought all of us to the jail using secret passageways, so we never had a chance to figure out how to navigate the “hallways.” We either wander aimlessly until we see something we recognize, or we devise a strategy first. It seemed like Murlocke and Maisel were opting for the former.
Murlocke interrupted my train of thought.

Sasheen! I think we found something.

Entry 17: Tree Hallways – August 19th, 2023 – 7:48 PM
Hey, Murlocke here again. It would seem that today is a big day for me: this is the second time I’ve been allowed to write in here.
So, what’s cool is that Maisel and I found a crossroads in the tree. It looked like a perfect cross, one hallway running east-west and the other north-south. Now, on its own, you’re probably thinking, who cares, right? Well, we care because it is an exact replica of the main intersection downtown where Harper Street meets Range Avenue. What’s especially strange, outside of the fact that we’re in a creepy version of our town deep underground, is that when we got to this intersection, Maisel and I both briefly forgot that we were down here at all… We both thought we were standing at the real main intersection in the real Harrington.
Anyway, this is our ticket out of here. Now that we understand that the layout of the tree matches the real Harrington, we know how to navigate the hallways through the tree and return to the old museum.
With any luck, the creature’s heart should be there in the form of a gold nugget. Quite possibly the same one Maisel touched at the beginning of all of this.
Okay, gotta go. Maisel and Sasheen seem to be getting along, which always freaks me out.
