Entry 3: Inside the Tree – Replica Harrington Museum – August 19th – 5:42 PM
We climbed down the ladder and ended up on a floor resembling Harrington’s old library… Or at least I think it must have been the old library; I never got a chance to see it, as it burned down when I was a baby. Just like the Mayor’s Office, the library appeared to be a one-to-one replica of the building it was based on. I took a moment to run my hands along the bookshelves. Everything was carved out of Red Cedar: every book, every shelf, every inch. It was so detailed as if someone had spent their whole life perfecting every chiselled edge.

Is anyone else getting a sort of uneasy feeling in their stomach?

This is sooooo cool.
Maisel slowly twirled around, unsure of what to look at first.
I agreed with Murlocke. Unlike the town hall, something about this floor seemed off. It felt like… like the walls were going to fold in over you. I didn’t like it there; it reminded me of when I got trapped in the clubhouse… (See The Four Rings Incident from September 2022.)

If we don’t figure out what’s happening soon, we’ll have to leave to get home in time for dinner.
I knew we’d have to go soon, but I didn’t like to leave occurrences unsolved… You never knew what could happen if they were left unsupervised.

We found yet another ladder in the centre of the library. We all agreed that we would explore one more floor. If we didn’t figure out what was going on, we would go home and come back tomorrow.
The next floor looked like the Harrington Museum, but the layout was different. It was missing the extension that was built a few years ago.

I think we should go. This place might be supernatural, but it doesn’t seem like it’s dangerous.

If it’s not dangerous, then why are you in a rush to leave?

He’s allowed to be scared, Maisel.

I’m not scared. I just don’t want us to get lost.

We came down two ladders. I’m pretty sure we can keep track of that

Let’s just look around for another minute, and if we can’t find the soccer ball, we’ll go.
Murlocke nodded, but I could tell by the way he was fidgeting with the zipper on his jacket that he wasn’t feeling any better..
I looked around the museum. I remember going when I was young, and this is exactly what it looked like. It was weird. It felt like stepping back in time. I recognized most of the displays: one about the gold miners who founded the town, another of the townspeople working together when the gold was all gone, and lastly, one of Harrington from twenty years ago.
It’s all very strange; why would someone do all this work to replicate the real museum so far underground?

Okay, after we examined all the displays, we found one that wasn’t like the others. For starters, it wasn’t carved out of red cedar. It was an actual gold nugget, and… I don’t quite know how to describe it… It looked almost blurry, like it was only partially complete.
Maisel started reaching for it.

Hold on! Maisel, you probably shouldn’t touch—
But the second she touched the nugget, everything went dark.
